P2P

File-sharing is a broad term to describe the transfer of data between two entities. There are many different ways to share files - from one operating system to another using USB flash drives, from an email to another, and by using fax. More specifically, P2P, or Peer-to-Peer file sharing is utilizing software to download files online and further creating a network that facilitates other users who download and upload the same content. An example of P2P sharing is the Lending Club, which Google has invested $125 million in 2013. The Lending Club presents itself to be the platform where borrowers and lenders can partake in lending transactions online, without the need for a traditional bank. Wiki So Far

So far in the wiki, I've updated and added information for topics that I have a certain degree of knowledge of, specifically for Fantasy Sports and Crowdfunding. I aim to go further in-depth about developing political involvement using crowdfunding, adding pictures of Bernie Sanders' crowdfunding pages, and I also aim to add more information about Fantasy Sports.

Privacy

In recent days, privacy and cybersecurity have become an issue with major concerns. There is just so much personal information that we store online that, if compromised, can easily upset our lives significantly. With the rise in cases regarding cybersecurity breaches and hacking, this matter greatly impacts those of us who utilize new media every day. Though it would be ideal to maintain a perfect impassable cybersecurity system, the reality is that there still are so many loopholes that can be decoded. Furthermore, we have been so deeply engrained into using new media, that we simply cannot break away from it. Such conditions explain why professions in enforcing cybersecurity are emerging. If this continues, soon, we may be able to stop worrying about privacy and confidentially entirely.

Advice

If I was hired by Baruch College to utilize new media to improve the college, I would definitely focus on developing a clearer communications system between students and faculty. Though there currently is a student government, it is an unfortunate truth that they cannot encompass and empathize with every single student. I believe it would be a great idea to use an internal platform similar to Twitter's and Blogger's - where each student can tag different Baruch departments and voice their concerns or praises. The convenient and direct nature of new media will surely improve Baruch's communication system when properly embraced.
